Foxton Graphics is my one-man design firm located in Clementsvale, Nova Scotia. While I generally work on my own, I maintain relationships in the industry to ensure that any job can be either completed or coordinated through me while I ensure that you’re dealing with the best service providers at the best prices. I have more than 40 years experience in the design world and have been working on Mac computers for art production since 1985!

I consider myself to be a “hands on” designer. I’ve always been fascinated by how everything actually happens so instead of just producing a design or setting up a pre-press file, I like to work with the production teams to make sure everything goes smoothly. I can help steer any project through what are often complex processes and avoid costly mistakes or delays.

I started my career in Calgary where I learned the fundamentals of design, marketing and advertising at several different retail and manufacturing companies. Eventually, I worked my way up to being the Senior Graphic Designer for TransCanada PipeLines (now TC Energy) overseeing an in-house team of six designers for more than ten years. After leaving TransCanada, I contracted with several oil companies and businesses in Calgary doing primarily investor relations presentations, annual reports and promotional items to boost corporate recognition.

In 2001 my family and I moved to Winnipeg where my first contracts were with several large clients including CanWest Global, Conagra Foods and CanadaMeds. I eventually joined a small firm, ViewSource Media, where I worked for 17 years. The variety of projects there kept me interested and also up to date with the ongoing changes in the print industry as well being involved with the fast emerging internet and applications for commerce online.

When my wife and I became “empty nesters” we decided to downsize and realized because of the ability to work remotely, we were no longer tethered to Winnipeg so, in 2023, since two of our daughters were here in Nova Scotia (we’re working on daughter #3), we moved east again and have now settled in Clementsvale. I am continuing my design career while my wife continues teaching piano. We both still have some original clients from Winnipeg and a whole new set of clients out here and we absolutely love living in rural Nova Scotia.

While I maintain my working relationship with a few Manitoba suppliers, I have also developed many connections here. Depending on the job, I source locally in Digby, Annapolis Royal or, if the project warrants, Dartmouth and Halifax. I still work with ViewSource, particularly when I need assistance with complex websites or when production done in Manitoba makes sense for costs.
